Creating a nice website is easier than you think
For a long time I was thinking to create a website. I have done one page long time ago when I was having an account with Brain Net. They use to offer FTP upload for your personal page. I think it was 1992. I experimented with dreamweaver at that time to create web page and had some experiments with html and css.
I tried wordpress which I found very intuitive and easy to use especially with themes. A week ago I just thought to create website.
Domain Name
Website needs a domain name so I thought about it and selected eyeblogger.com as my website and register it with Domain Registrar
Hosting provider
Each website needs to be hosted on a server for 24 hours availability. It can be hosted on own server but that’s a tedious process and needs little bit more resources and technical know how. I chose to host my website on one of many hosting providers
Web designing
This is what has changed over years to be more easier than ever. Thera are AI web designing options available and with few clicks and minimal idea a complete website can be made and would be up and running in no time.
I chose to design my website using wordpress managed hosting but used my own idea to change a wordpress theme to my liking.
Cost Consideration
Domain name registration and hosting provider will cost money. Designing website and managing it to setup on hosting provider can cost also if you cannot do it yourself.
- Domain Name Registration usually costs 10.40 USD / year
- Hosting cost depends on hosting providers. My hosting plan was 3.49 USD / month
- I used wordpress with a free theme to design my website and my hosting provider provided all the technicalities to make my website up and working.
So my website will be costing a 4.36 USD / month but I can make more websites on my hosting plan and cost can be cut down if I am hosting multiple websites like for my children and family members.
Time Spent
Time is a considerable asset which needs to be spent to make and maintain a website. I have interest and can spend some time for this purpose which also give me opportunity to learn new thing so in my opinion I justify my time spent on this project. Overall it took me not more than 6 hours to complete this project.
